Locally Grown Flowers

Our Plaque of Promise

Pewaukee Location Going Green!

Many of our customers are unaware that we have a second location in Pewaukee which actually grows many of their own flowers for both stores to use in everyday arrangements.   At Bank of Memories & Flowers, we are environmentally conscious and always finding new ways to go green.  In the past decade buying local food has become mainstream, so why not flowers too?  Buying locally grown flowers are better for a number of reasons.  Having our gardens at Pewaukee gives both locations long lasting flowers while eliminating chemicals which keeps our planet healthy.  Locally grown flowers are more gentle on the environment because they are not being grown in greenhouses or shipped in planes and trucks.

By buying local flowers you are supporting the local economy and encouraging small and beginning farmers.  At Bank of Memories & Flowers, we find that these flowers are naturally fresher.  Once they are cut and hydrated, they can soon be used in beautiful arrangements.  If you stop at our Pewaukee location, you will find many gorgeous flowers in bloom such as sedum, veronica, garden roses, purple cone flower, pink hydrangeas, and yarrow.  Our garden provides us with varieties that are hard to find otherwise.  Our customers are always fascinated by the exotic flowers we use on a day to day basis.  Seasonal flowers that come from our garden are much more affordable than flowers forced to grow out-of-season in greenhouses, which means you will never pay premium price.

Take some time and smell the beautiful flowers blooming in our garden and check out our unique lawn art.  We have found that our gardens take a lot of work, but have also been therapeutic and fun to grow.  So you've got more than one reason to go local and go green!!!!

Father Day

Here's to all Dads!!

Father's Day is coming up fast, so I wondered where this holiday got its start. The initial idea of Father's Day came from Sonara Smart Dodd who wanted to honor dads like hers who was a civil war vet and a single dad of 6 children! This was uncommon at the time for dads to raise their children by themselves, as many widowers placed their children in the care of others or quickly remarried again.  The idea of Father's Day caught on and was celebrated in 1916 by Woodrow Wilson but was not made "official" until 1972 by President Nixon.

Don't forget to honor your dad this year.  Father's Day is always celebrated on the third Sunday of June.  Celebrate the contribution that your own father has made to your life.  Many people send or give cards to their fathers, but at Bank of Memories and Flowers we can send dad a more unique and custom gift.  Believe it or not, a lot of dads would tell you that receiving a floral arrangement, unique plant, or a gift basket full of treats would knock his socks off.  I'm absolutely in love with the new Jeep Wrangler container we just got in.  You could put plants or flowers in this cool keepsake.  Give us a call so you can be Dads favorite this year!

Wedding Anniversary Gifts

This week I will be celebrating my 8th wedding anniversary.  My wedding was on June 4, 2004 at the Polish Center of Wisconsin.  It was a beautiful Friday wedding and the weather was perfect.  The five delivery vans full of flowers got there with time to spare with all my girlfriends running around adding all the final touches. Thinking back, it is amazing what a dream that year was...I bought Bank of Memories & Flowers just a few months before.  I was such a world wind.

Every year my husband Tom and I give the traditional wedding anniversary gifts, this year it was bronze.

Danyell Cain, Our Pewaukee Manager

DANYELL CAIN - PEWAUKEE MANAGER

Danyell started her career in the floral industry in 2004. She has spent most of her life in artistic fields such as painting, interior design, rock carving, pottery, drawing, professional singing. Though all very fun and interesting she never felt like she had found quite the right niche until she discovered the floral industry.

Danyell researched the industry and decided that she wanted to give it a try. She attended The Milwaukee School of Flower Design and was hired at a floral shop immediately afterwards. Floral designing came naturally to her and she quickly excelled within the industry, gaining a much greater passion for flowers and design.

Danyell joined the team at Bank of Memories & Flowers in December of 2009 as manager of the Pewaukee location. She loves her job and being able to take her love for design and color and applying it with a medium as gorgeous as flowers! She enjoys providing unmatched customer service and outstanding customized floral displays for all of the shops clients.
