A Rustic Pritzlaff Wedding

Katlyn + Kevin = LOVE

Ceremony:  The Big Red Church, Calvary Presbyterian

Reception: Pritzlaff Building
Florist:  Bank of Memories & Flowers
Rentals: Canopies
Month: October

Katlyn (Kate) and Kevin where married on a gorgeous autumn day in October when the leaves were just beginning to change.  Their "I Do's" took place at the historical Big Red Church in downtown Milwaukee on Wisconsin Avenue.

Kate was stunning in her vintage inspired wedding dress adorn with lace; her bridal veil was a sweet birdcage veil covering just a part of her face.  Her lips were a bright pop of red.  Her flowers were inspired by wild flowers.  The bouquet was filled with garden fresh plum astilbe,  delphinium, seeded eucalyptus, and fragrant ivory garden roses.   For her "something borrowed" and "something blue" she used a special heirloom lady face brooch.

For cocktail hour, guess arrived at the Pritzlaff Building near the 3rd Ward.  This amazing and historical space has high ceilings, cream city brick and exposed beams.  The couple carried the rustic and vintage theme right into their reception.

Mason jars filled with wild flowers sat on top of cut slabs of tree wood.  The other centerpieces gave some height, tall branches towering over the tables.  Each branch had hanging glass votives with flickering candles and the cylinder vase was filled with white garden hydrangeas.

Thank you Kate and Kevin for letting us be part of your special day!

Custom Funeral Flowers

Flowers are a perfect way to pay tribute to the deceased at the service.  They provide a voice for many people like myself who have difficulty finding the right words of consolation during a time of loss.

I truly love designing funeral arrangements.  It sounds a bit strange, but I feel that flowers can play a role in the grieving process.  Many times when I am at a funeral, flowers are what brightens a sad and somber environment.  Floral tributes create a topic of conversation and have a soothing quality.  Sympathy flowers show that you cared about the deceased or his or her family.  Looking back when my grandpa passed, it was very comforting to see an abundance of floral arrangements at the viewing.  It made me feel very loved during a time of sadness.

If you are looking for custom arrangements and expertise, please do not hesitate to stop into Bank of Memories & Flowers.  We would be honored to help in any way we can.

The Sweetest Day of the Year!

Here's a little history of Sweetest Day...a holiday founded and celebrated in the Midwest. Sweetest Day is celebrated on the third Saturday in October.  The very first Sweetest Day holiday was announced on October 8th, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio by a committee of 12 confectioners.

The first holiday was not about giving gifts to your sweetheart, but to let the city's underprivileged know that they were not forgotten.  The confectioners announced the "Sweetest Day of the Year Committee" which handed out over 20,000 boxes of chocolates to Cleveland's newsboys, orphans, elderly, and the poor.

Local celebrities and movie stars assisted in handing out the sweet treats and goodies. Today, Sweetest Day is a day to spread love and sweetness to people in your life you care about.  So go ahead...spread the sweet this Saturday!

Florist: Bank of Memories & Flowers
Wedding Planner: Parties Etc., Chicago
Linens:  BBJ Linens
Month: January

It is pretty amazing to see a brides vision unfold between your eyes.  As a florist, it's euphoria when you exceed their expectations!!

As I think back on Sarah and Ryan Buck's wedding story, I remember Sarah standing in the front lobby, she was stunning in her lace wedding gown of St. Peter Paul church.  She beaming with excitement to see her groom.  Both were so excited to get their party started.

One of my favorite moments from the day was when Sarah and Ryan entered their reception before any of their guest to see their vision come to life.

The towering centerpieces were filled with over 3 dozen ivory roses, gray brunia and 45 hydrangeas!  Birch branches extended out the top making each these stunning arrangement over 8 feet tall.

The other guest tables had a lush arrangement filled with ivory hydrangeas, roses, lisianthus, gray brunia and succulents.  Hundreds of unique mercury votives filled the space with candle light.

The Bucks, carried their last name into all elements of their wedding,
from the personal lighted logo that illuminated the grand reception area,
to the deer antlers used in the floral decor in the entryway table.

Even in the last minutes leading up to midnight, Sarah and Ryan guests filled the dance floor not wanting the night to end.  Thank you to Sarah and Ryan for letting us be a part in their wedding and sharing these beautiful photos with our readers.
