I can't think of a cheerier flower than the Gerbera Daisy.  Something about this flower just makes people smile, and so it was a very fitting flower for Stacy and Matt's special day, where smiles could be found everywhere you look!  

Stacy chose a palette of white, peach and coral, a perfect compliment to the robins egg blue dresses. The bouquets were made from white hydrangeas, soft peach stock, peach and coral roses, and coral gerberas.  The men wore double spray rose boutonnieres in coral, with white for the groom.  

The aisle was decorated with hanging vases filled with white hydrangeas, and the reception tables were simply charming with coral gerberas in a vase accented with the robins egg blue ribbon.  

This was such a fun color scheme and look, and it was so much fun to be a part of Stacy and Matt's special day!  Congratulations!

Kendall + Robert = Wedded Bliss

I met with Kendall a few short months before her July 30th wedding, and we hit it off immediately.  Her bubbly personality is infectious and I wanted to make her flowers as fun as she is.  

Kendall chose peach, white and grey as her color palette.  We combined hydrangeas, astilbe, bouvardia, white oriental lilies, garden roses, godetia, and peach gerbera daisies with grey brunia and dusty miller to fulfill her floral wishes.  Kendall added personality to her wedding by using a personalized burlap aisle runner for the ceremony and having their huskies walk the couple down the aisle after saying "I do".  Her "something blue" was a small heart shaped piece of her father's shirt added to her wedding dress.  

At their reception at the Delafield Hotel, the aisle flowers from the ceremony were repurposed to be used on the cocktail tables.  Tall and short floral arrangements were interspersed throughout the reception tables.  At the end of the night, the couple walked through a gauntlet of well wishers waving lit sparklers.  So much fun!!

I sometimes wish weddings happened more than once just so I can work with the same people over and over again.  Kendall and Robert were be on the top of the list!

We wish them a wonderful, fun happy wedded life together!

Bank of Flowers

As Good in the Vase as it is in the Garden...

Here at the Bank of Memories & Flowers shop, we always love having something unique and fun to work with. This past week, it's been Veronica or Speedwell, as it is sometimes called, grown in the garden at our Pewaukee location. 

I've always been a huge fan of this plant and its blooms in the perennial garden but I never really thought of it as a cutflower. After seeing it in the bouquets and corsages we've done this week, I've definitely changed my mind!

 

These vibrantly pink Veronica stems add amazing texture and a fun twist on an otherwise common bouquet. The hue plays off of that of the Gerbera daisy perfectly.

After being asked by multiple customers what these little beauties were, we realized that we weren't the only ones intrigued by them! And the coolest part? Veronica is a perennial here in the Upper Midwest! Grown in sunny locations, the common blue variety of this plant is one of the truest blues available in a blooming plant. 

 

These plants grow in a mounding habit, approximately 1 - 3 feet tall. As if the beauty and cutflower use of these blooms wasn't enough, they also are great attractors for pollinators, such as butterflies, hummingbirds, and honey bees.

The Veronica stems were the perfect addition to this corsage, completely the more "natural" garden look.

Summer is upon us, so why not head to your local garden center and pick up a few plants? Or just come on in and ask us -- we may just have some to put in a bouquet for you!
