Joshua & Greg - A Perfect Match

Ceremony: Potowatomi Hotel- Harmony Room
Reception:Potowatomi Hotel- Serenity Room and Patio
Florist: Bank of Flowers
Month: July

Josh stopped in one day, out of the blue, to discuss flowers for his wedding.  He had some great ideas for both the ceremony and reception at the Potowatomi Hotel on the weekend of the 4th of July.  He and his groom Greg wanted a little elegance, a little glitz, and lots of fun.

This wedding had quite a few firsts for me, my first time at Potowatomi Hotel and my first gay wedding, among them. As with traditional weddings, the grooms had ladies standing up for them, we call them Groomsmaids (name, patent pending ). The Groomsmaids bouquets were a mix of white hydrangea, white mini calla lilies, dusty miller topped with Blue Bom dendrobium orchid blossoms and finished in white ribbon and rhinestone wraps.  The groomsmen all wore orchid blossoms and the grooms wore a single mini calla.

The ceremony was set in the Harmony Room where a center table was accented by tall arrangements matching the reception pieces and two garden urns filled with curly willow branches.  In the Serenity Room at the reception, each table was topped with the same tall vases filled with curly willow and white hydrangea.  Clear hanging vases filled with tealights hung from the branches.  The Groomsmaids' bouquets were used to dress the head table.

We loved working with Josh and Greg, and thank them for giving Bank of Flowers the opportunity to create the wedding they hoped for.  We wish them love and happiness for their wedded life together.

Turner Hall Ballroom

Elizabeth + Brian = Love

Ceremony and Reception: Turner Hall
Florist: Bank of Flowers
Photographer: Gloss Photography Studios
Month: August

What better place to get married than the heart of it all in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Liz and Brian planned their dream wedding so their guests could experience the urban beauty of our great city at the historical Turner Hall. Turner Hall Ballroom is a two story 7,000 square foot space that was originally used by German Immigrants of Milwaukee for weekly concerts, dances and theatrical performances.   This gem of a space was fully renovated in the early 2000 after nearly being vacant for 70 years.  Congratulations Elizabeth and Brian!

Changing of the Season

The floral industry is one of many that follow the changing seasons.  The color palettes of each season seem to reflect the flowers that bloom at that time of the year.  They trend from soft pastels in the spring to bright, bold colors in the summer, the muted tones of fall, and the clean whites of winter.
This time of year in Wisconsin, we find the season is already changing.
Autumn is by far my favorite season.  The air turns crisp, vibrant colored leaves crunch beneath my feet, and the smell of apples and pumpkins baking just warms my heart.   I especially love autumn flowers in bright oranges, yellows, and burgundy tones.  From the traditional fall mums and bright leaves, to the more unusual harvest flowers like dahlias, celosia, rose hips, and grasses.  Even adding some unusual elements that you wouldn't think of for this time of year, like protea and orchids, give autumn arrangements a new look.  So grab a cup of hot cider, a slice of pumpkin pie, and your favorite autumn flowers and enjoy the changing of the season!
