West Bend Country Club

Anna + Nick = True Love

Ceremony & Reception: West Bend Country Club
Photographer: Chasing Lilies
Florist: Bank of Flowers
Month: September

It was a wonderful day, delivering and servicing Anna and Nick's wedding at the West Bend Country Club.  It brought back so many amazing memories for me.  Six years ago, my husband and I were married at this very same venue, at this same time of year.  I can't believe how time flies.

For her wedding, Anna chose a simple pallet of white, pops of plum, and grey accents, which gave the flowers a elegant feel.  White hydrangeas and white garden roses gave the bouquets a romantic base for the plum callas and dianthus, and the grey brunia berries added a touch of class.  A special floral tribute was made and placed on a empty chair, in memory of the bride's father, who had passed.  It was a simple, but touching way to honor him.
The ceremony flowers were all re-purposed for the reception, and they looked amazing.  The unity candle piece was used on the mantle, and the pew decorations and bridesmaids bouquets were used on the tables and around the room.
Congratulations Anna and Nick, and thank you for the trip down memory lane!

Golden Mast Wedding

Ashley + Sean = LOVE

Florist: Bank of Flowers
Photographer: Cilento
Ceremony: Church in Oconomowoc
Reception: Golden Mast
Month: September

Ashley and Sean's wedding is such a beautiful example of simple elegance.  The bodice on Ashley's dress is full of ornate details, so she chose to go with a simple bouquet that would accent her dress, without taking away from it.  White hydrangeas and creamy peach roses accented with rhinestones was the perfect choice.  The handle was wrapped in solid rhinestones as well, which coordinated with the large jeweled accent on Ashley's dress. The bride's maids all wore dresses in a lovely shade of purple, so the soft lavender hydrangeas were a perfect choice for their bouquets.
Congratulations Ashley and Sean!  We were so happy to be a part of your special day!

Lapham Peak Wedding Shoot

Something Borrowed, Something Blue

We were thrilled when Nikki of Nikki Kate Photography contacted Bank of Flowers this past July to participating in photo shoot to create a bouquet for a styled wedding shoot.  She was going to take photos at Lapham Peak in Delafield, WI and wanted me to use muted blues and gold for the color scheme.  Nikki sent some inspirational photographs and said she wanted the mood to be dreamy and romantic, she loved the look of loose leaves.  A few days later, she decided to add a floral crown to the look.

My colleague, Wendy Walker, created the floral crown first.  She used a twine base and added seeded eucalyptus and dusty miller first for texture, then added cream spray roses, wax flower and tiny blue thistle as focals.  To add a touch of whimsy, she designed only half which is worn to the side.  The day of the shoot, I created the bridal bouquet starting with an armature of curly willow.  Adding to that base were the "dusty" greens, seeded and silver dollar eucalyptus, dusty miller, springerei and millet.  For textural interest, rice flower, poppy pods, and grey brunia were added.  The flowers were the finale and included blue thistle, light blue delphinium, blue bachelor buttons and cream roses.  It was so much fun to use my imagination to create this bouquet.

Who knew that the weather would change that afternoon, and that after makeup and hair, Nikki and the model only had 10 minutes to get all the photos taken before a thunderstorm came whipping through Lapham Peak and Waukesha county.  Obviously, that was all the time they needed because they took some fabulous pictures!

"Teacher's Pet" Flower Arrangements

Everyone remembers growing up hearing that you should give your teacher an apple on the first day of school.  While many still carry on this tradition, some may want to do something a bit more memorable!  Starting a new school year off right is important at any age.

Show your student and teacher your support with a back-to-school fresh flower arrangement!  You don't have to spend a lot of money to make a big impact.  Look at how cute this little bird bud vase is! I would love to receive one as a gift myself!

If you want something that will live a long time, send one of our plants.  Our pretty African Violets and small Kalanchoes are only $15!  They come in a cute container with a bow, and should thrive for months or more, and they are easy to care for!

The ideas is that we're giving our teachers a big "Thanks!" for all of their hard work.  Our happy back-to-school "Teacher's Pet" gifts are sure to put smiles on the faces of students and teachers alike!

Love is Sweet as Pineapple

Who would have thought a bride and groom could experience a full-on tropical wedding right here in the streets of Milwaukee, Wisconsin?  Well, we did it!  And this is why we love this state so much!  You and your guests don't have to travel far to fulfill a tropical themed wedding of your dreams.  The location at Sangria Bar / The Point is one of the perfect venues to fool your guests into thinking they are on the Island of  Maui.  Be inspired by this wedding shoot for your own island paradise wedding!!

This is by far on of my favorite shoots to date, and all thanks to these amazing vendors who pulled together to make this Pineapple-themed wedding shoot.
