New fall arrangements

With the weather turning colder and the last of summer's flowers having died to wind and rain, its a perfect time to focus on indoor arrangements. The bright, bold colors of autumn are perfect for any home. The ceramic pumpkin arrangement is one of my favorites. Once the flowers die, you still have a beautiful keepsake for fall!!

Pewaukee's Designer Races for the Cure

Milwaukee, WI- September 25, 2011

This past Sunday one of our Pewaukee designers, Lauren, made her way to the Susan G. Komen race for the cure. Read her story below.

The day may have started very dark and rainy, but when we finally made it downtown the horizon became bright pink. The rain had held off for a perfect morning for over 19,000+ participants ready to fight for
a cure.

The Susan G. Komen race for the cure is an annual walk for my family,
both my Mom and Nana are survivors. It is the time of year we all come
together to celebrate their victory while supporting those who are currently in their fight. This year was even more special because we were walking in honor for our friend Barb. She was diagnosed about a month ago and has been fighting strong every day since. It was emotional to watch Barb as she crossed the finish line with a handful of loved ones surrounding her. The millions of women just like Barb, push all of us at Bank of Memories & Flowers to fight even more during the month of October. Personally, the images of the thousands of people walking for their loved ones keeps me pushing for a cure.

During the month of October, we want to encourage our customers to spread awareness. It can be through ‘Fight Like a Girl’ apparel or purchasing our Petals for Hope arrangement which donates $5 to ABCD (After Breast Cancer Diagnosis) during the month of October at bankofmemories.com. Please us help us give strength to as many women as possible.

One stop shop for Homecoming 2011!!!

Its hard to believe that homecoming season is in full swing already. Homecoming is all about looking drop dead gorgeous and dancing the night away! This year let your personality shine though our flowers. The last few months I have been reading up on some of this years hottest trends for homecoming and one of them being "bling". You can definitely get that with our corsages!! A lot of girls love our wrist corsages because they look so much better than the rest. We offer beaded bracelet bands for the flowers to go on, instead of the typical uncomfortable elastic band.

When ordering your date's homecoming flowers, don't be shy with the color of flowers you choose. The colors you choose says a lot about your sense of style. Stay away from the normal white and ivory. Bold colors such as lime green, orange, and fuchsia really pop against a lot of dress colors!

Girls don't forget your garters. Our garters just arrived and are only $10.98. Upgrade your garter for an additional $5.00 with bling or feathers.

If students order early, they receive 10% off of their order, and if they come in as a couple they receive 15% off of their total order! Stop by today, it doesn't hurt to order early!
Chloe just loves our garters.

Preparing for I Do: 6.16.12'- Venue

After saying yes to the marriage proposal Alison and Patrick were ready to start planning their wedding. First things first, Alison and Patrick knew they needed to book the venues. An easy decision for them was the church, Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, the church Alison grew up in.

Then came the not so easy part, mutually deciding on a venue for the reception. It made it easier when they both knew they wanted a location in downtown Milwaukee because of the convenience for out of town guests and the beauty of the city. They made a lot of visits to downtown venues, and after the tours and meetings Alison and Patrick decided on the Harbor Lights Room with Zilli Hospitality group. The room provides the couple with both indoor and outdoor settings for the guests to enjoy, which was very important to Alison. The decor gives off a casual, contemporary, yet elegant feel for a great reception.

When deciding on a venue for your big event, it is important to make sure it fits the style you are looking for. Alison and Patrick wanted something that would fit their personalities, casual and fun. Other things to keep in mind when picking a venue: how many guests, venue capacity, catering options and entertainment facilities.

Remember to tell your florist the style of the venue, or if you can bring in pictures! It helps the designer learn more about your personal style and the wedding/event. Knowing this information will make for a smoother floral consultation and more time to be creative!

Tanya's Special Wedding

Tanya was married this summer in a beautiful historical church in Grafton and her reception was at The Legend of Brandybrook in Whales.
Her color pallet was hot pinks and lime greens. Her bridesmaids flowers were lime green Fuji mums and mini hot pink spray roses. Tanya carried mini lime green cymbidium orchids and peonies in shades of pinks.
Her centerpieces where amazing with three designs at different heights and combinations. The vases had a unique element added of crushed gel that gave the allusion of crushed ice all night long. Tanya was all about the details and it turned about beautiful!

Aleisha's Beautiful Wedding

Aleisha was married early this summer. Aleisha choose to do a traditional classic all white bridal bouquet for herself with hydrangeas, freesia, roses, calla lillies and peonies. All bouquets were wrapped in a simple satin ribbon around the exposed stems. Her colors where amazing with her blue bridesmaids dresses. The girls carried green hydrangeas, hot pink peonies, tangerine roses and blue delphinium blossoms.

Beautiful Fall Mums!

We just received some of the most vibrant fall chrysanthemums I have ever seen! Mums are probably one of the easiest blooming plants to take care of. Plants with buds prefer bright diffused sunlight, but not direct sunlight. Plants with open flowers do well in a variety of light conditions. Water when dry to touch. Bring a little color into your home!
