Behind the Wedding Scene

Once a year we love to give our readers a behind scene look on what it is like for a Bank of Memories & Flowers florist on "Wedding Day!"

Here are a few of our highlights. Enjoy!

We wake up with the sun peering in and with a smile we are as excited as the bride, it's going to be a beautiful day.  It's still early so we grab a coffee and head into the shop to finish last minute details.

This morning we finished of the brides bouquet by wrapping the stems in ivory satin ribbon and added pearl buttons down her handle. Green cymbidium orchid blossoms are secured into the brides bouquet for the finishing touch.

Now it's time to drive over to the reception site to begin creating centerpieces well before guest arrive.
Sam Conner, our wedding coordinator, is rolling in over 200 roses, 50 stems of white hydrangeas and green hypericum.

Owner, Melissa Maas, is wrangling the 8 feet tall curly willow into the Wisconsin Club. We will need to take the stairs with this one, it will not fit in the elevator.

The clock is ticking, we have only 2 hours to create 25 beautiful centerpieces before we have to get our bride down the aisle.  Each centerpiece is carefully designed on site and we will be securing over 75 hanging votives onto the branches.

Finish product!
This arrangement will really get their guest talking.
Last minute details of fresh flowers need to be added to the cake. The cluster of flowers on the top of the cake was created at the shop but the orchids on the tiers need to be hand placed.

Now off to the church, where every last bow is placed just so.

There she goes down the aisle...
One of my favorite moments of the day; all her guest are waiting to see the first glimpse of the beautiful bride.  It is just sweet silence between her and her dad.
It was a good day!
