Our Little Piece of History

Did you know...?

From time to time, Bank of Memories & Flowers has customers that with a gleam in their eye, speak of how they once remembered our wonderful, historic building.

Cameron W. Fraser, an ambitious business man, was an editor and publisher of the Menomonee Falls News; with the help of Charles C. Anderson, a prominent Waukesha architect, designed and constructed one of the most historic buildings in Menomonee Falls over a hundred years ago. It has been home to the Community's First Bank, the Post Office, the office of the Menomonee Falls News, and the Menomonee Falls Telephone Company.  We are proud to add our flower shop to the list of  business to the C.W. Fraser Building.

The new additions of history came to us by surprise.  Our newest talented floral designer, Luan Kurriger, was hired this summer.  She told me that Charles C. Anderson was her Great Grandpa!  I will never forget after her interview with me as she left the Menomonee Falls building, she looked around and said "You did good Great Grandpa!"  Luan later provided me with a photo (see below).

The building has since been remodeled both in 1927 and 1988, with more recent remodeling completed in the fall of 2009.  Located right in the heart of "downtown" Menomonee Falls on the corner of Main and Appleton, the C.W. Fraser building with its unique design creates a perfect atmosphere for an at-home, comfortable feel with the scent of fresh flowers.

Bank of Memories & Flowers embraced our buildings past by renovating one of the bank's vaults into a walk-in cooler and continuing to admire the upstairs vault door with its original design.  Stop by between 8am-6pm Monday through Friday and 8:30-3pm on Saturdays for a complimentary tour of this historic building and experience the past!  We would love to see you!
